Blogging low on the list

There just isn't time, or the inclination to be completely honest, to spend thinking about, uploading pictures, and trying to make this blog anything but random and nonsensicle.

The summer is almost gone and a lot is going to change.  Quinn starts Real Kindergarten on September 8th at a nearby Montessori school.  The choice to continue paying out private school tuition was an easy one - why else am I working than to provide this kind of thing?  The school he is in is comfortable for him, a known quantity, but not stimulating or challenging enough.  His teacher told me that she's sure he's reading at a second or third grade level and is ready for Real Math.  Quinn is not too happy about this transition (he told me that his school has better trucks and cars than the Montessori school - he has his priorities) but he will do well.

Me, on the other hand, have to adjust to the fact that there isn't going to be the flexibility in his schedule that I have liked so much these past years - Friday afternoons for us to go to the library, run errands, go to the park or to the museum, whatever we wanted to do.  Now School is All Day, and that might mean I have to work All Day, too.

Sigh.

We did one of those Butterfly Gardens recently and these pictures were from the Official Butterfly Release Day.

Quinn was a little concerned that they wouldn't know how to fly outside their little cage, but they all managed to go whizzing off in huge circles, landing on various flowers or trees in the yard.

There were five of them.  They didn't get names as such, and we hope they got out in time to reproduce and have a little taste of freedom before their two-week life span was over.
