Thursday night was a magic show and trick-or-treating at Quinn's preschool. We considered it a dry run for Saturday, so we did the whole black cat costume, complete with face paint and ears. Homemade ears by mama, don't ya know.
The tail? Pipe cleaners wrapped in a silky long fur-like thing we got at Michael's for 50 cents. We even had white fluffy gloves for the cat's white paws. Quinn insisted, even though they were so slippery he had trouble grasping anything.
We got there just in time to get front row seats to the Presto the Magician's show. Can you see the rat on Quinn's shoulder? My touch. When the show started all the kids sat on the rug and Quinn was right there to see the magic. He was astounded that Presto somehow "multiplied pumpkins!" (little orange balls). Now, I get a minor creepy feeling about magicians (kinda like clowns), but this guy is obviously good and deals with the kids very well.
After the first bit with the 'pumpkins' Quinn got called up to help with the magic wand. You know the schtick - the wand keeps bending. Quinn did it for about 5 minutes, then when Presto turned around, he had gone back to his spot on the rug. I guess Quinn thought he was done.
The teachers from the various classrooms had candy for the kids. Quinn practiced his best "Trick or Treat!" on his teacher, Miss Kadi.
In the kindergarten room they had arts and crafts and games. Quinn managed to find all the cat stamps.
It was a fun time, and now Quinn thinks he makes a fabulous cat and can't wait to go out again on Saturday for the Big Event.
