Up to nothing good

Random picture.  We moved this big, comfy chair to Quinn's room to replace his glider rocker.  We insist on a good reading chair.  Quinn took advantage of the moment to make the chair into a Cat Cave.

As you may know, Quinn has been learning to read.  He's doing an amazing job the past two months and has been sticking with it with hardly a wimper.  The lessons take just a few minutes a day and we usually do it before dinner (after dinner is too full of play, bath, etc.).  Part of the lesson is to practice writing letter sounds.

A couple of weekends ago (when it wasn't raining every Second) Quinn got a chance to Ride With The Big Kids from the neighborhood.  This is the first year he's had a bike that he is willing to ride fast and furious up and down the street.  We've started calling them "The Posse".  All the kids are older then Quinn, but they are exceptionally nice to him and include him in their games.

Easter.  I'm ambivalent, to say the least.  Since we are hardly religious in any tangible way, it becomes about the eggs for us.  For the last few years we've done Tie Dyed eggs, using vinegar and neon food coloring.  Quinn is old enough to do all of the steps, which he was very proud of.  He also 'experimented' a bit, diverging from the directions.

The results:

In an effort to tone down the candy-ishness of the day (I ask you - WHY do all holidays come with candy attached???) we focused on eggs and a few small gifts.  Cat stickers are always a hit and new markers (to draw cats with).

To avoid last year's issue hunting decorated eggs in the yard (slugs were SO happy), we did it inside.  The rain has been so bad that parts of the yard are more like a marsh then grass, anyway.

Gotta check out the color-changing markers Right Away.

All in all, a fast event.  We moved on to puffed pancake for breakfast and a slow Sunday.  For us, a good thing.
