Of the Beach, Family and Hotel Rooms

We spent a couple of days in Newport last week.  Erick's older sister, Frances and her husband, Eric (there are way too many Eric(k)(ck)s in this family!) were visiting from the east coast so we packed our bags and headed to the beach.

One of Quinn's favorite things is to stay in hotels.  We found a very nice one (new, clean with ridiculously comfortable beds) that we've stayed at twice.  We now have a routine for the first night we're there - microwave popcorn.  We went through three bags and ate it out of the ice bucket.

Looks like someone is ready for bed.

Looking for the Perfect Beach while we waited for Fran and Eric to get to town from Yakima.  Nope - this one was all rocks.

Someone (and again, I'm not sayin' who) was a little cranky about this photo.  But I get so few pictures with him since I'm usuallly the one with the camera.

Finally found Ona Beach - a place we went for Quinn's first beach experience as a baby. The wind was a tad strong, but the sun was very nice.  The shovel was put to use immediately.

This was me.  The whole time.

Burying the child.

Walking like a cat.

It Was a bit windy and chilly, and all I wanted to do was read my new book.  Had to hunker down a little.

Taking time out to stretch.

Still trying to read.

Digging deeper.

Once Fran and Eric got to Newport we met up for lunch at the waterfront.  Afterwards we found a new source for saltwater taffy - a tradition for us when we're in Newport.  Notice the Boat Full of taffy.  When it was all said and done we had 5 pounds (yep, you read it right - 5 POUNDS) of taffy.  Oy.

Crab hat.

What a fun time.  We got to the beach three times and got to eat great seafood.  The weather was perfect and seeing Erick's family was good after so many years.
