Summer Fun

Today was the second day of our first "camp". Called Mud Pies and Patty Cakes, it is for kids age 4 to 6 and is held in West Linn, the town we lived in last summer before we moved. They have the best parks (definately better than this town) and last summer we watched kids going to this same camp while we played in the park. Quinn was very excited about being old enough to go this year.

It is two hours of games, crafts and even a field trip tomorrow to the library; happens to be the one we go to every week, but it will be with new people, so maybe Quinn won't want to hog the Legos.

Anyway. I showed up a little early to pick him up and snapped a couple of pictures. I was unclear about what everyone was looking at.

The camp is run by the parks and recreation and is staffed by a group of teens. They do a great job.

This is pre-Duck-Duck-Goose, which Quinn has decided is the Best Game In the World.

Right in the same park is a new water feature. Last year it was just a wading pool, but they decided that those were pretty unsanitary and put in these sprinklers. Much safer and more fun.

My slow-to-warm-up child was a bit hesitant and never actually got wet. He says he will tomorrow after camp. He did, however, strike up a conversation with a couple of local beauties.

I'm not sure if he's staring down this dog or not. Sometimes I wonder about this child.

Tomorrow is another day of Mud Pies. God bless Parks and Rec!

Looks like fun! What a great way to spend part of the day!

Park and Rec programs and employees are highly undervalued. They offer so many great things for young kids. Glad Q's getting to enjoy them!
